Volunteer with Forgotten Harvest
Forgotten Harvest – Distribution Center
Please join SMSHE as we volunteer with Forgotten Harvest at their Distribution Center in Oak Park, MI. Volunteers are needed to help pack emergency food boxes and re-pack or sort fresh nutritious food that will be distributed through Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb County.
This Event is open to all everyone. You do not need to be a SMSHE Member to attend. Please feel free to bring a spouse, co-worker, friend, etc. Children must be atleast 10 years of age.
Building emergency food boxes is the main focus. Other tasks may include, but are not limited to:
- General cleaning and distribution center needs
- Sweep distribution center floor and mop corners
- Dust off the top of food boxes/pallets
- Separate and bag food into gaylords
- Put cardboard in the baler
Volunteers in the distribution center must be at least 10 years of age. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
MANDATORY DRESS CODE: Must wear long pants & closed-toe shoes.
- NO open-toe or heel shoes (any kind of shoe exposing feet or any part of the foot, like sandals, sling-back, or Crocs)
- NO tank tops
- NO jewelry. Wedding rings are fine. All earrings and facial piercings must be removed.
